Job Position Descriptions

We are looking for a superstar Crew Lead to supervise and participate in all activities related to the accomplishment of specific jobs. This position oversees the work of Painters, Apprentices, and/or helpers. The position assists the Operations Manager in assigning work orders, estimating bids and also assists in managing the daily functions. Participate in and oversee painting projects
Organizational Relationships: Reports to: Operations Supervisor.
Manages: Painters and Apprentices.
Scope of Responsibility: Success of job; relationship with customer; management of crew. Success is defined as completing jobs on schedule and the customer is happy with the work performed.
Specialized Functions and Skills: Must have clear understanding of jobsite safety. It is the Crew Leader’s responsibility to insure the safety of their customers, themselves and their crewmembers at all times. Must possess knowledge of products. Must also have the ability to document daily activities. Must also be able to efficiently manage painters and all tasks involved with completing jobs.
Responsibilities:
• Arrange walk-through with customer and Operations Supervisor prior to start of job.
• Make sure all color samples are approved and come up with “game plan” to finish the job on time. Discuss this plan with Operations Supervisor prior to beginning.
• During the course of a job there may be opportunities to sell additional work, or the customer may ask for additional work to be performed. The Crew Leader is expected to sell or take on additional work at every opportunity available, provided that an Additional Work Order Form is completed and signed by the customer. This completed form must be returned to the Operations Supervisor or Office Manager and put into the job file to be added to the final invoice.
• The Crew Leader is responsible for the safety and performance of every man or woman on his crew.
• The Crew Leader is to monitor attendance, appearance, language, proper use of equipment.
• Crew Leader should monitor his crew’s performance and make the necessary adjustments to bring the job in “Happy and Under”.
• Crew Leader is to keep written records of everyone’s attendance and make performance evaluations, whether good or bad, on his/her crewmembers.
• Be on time and help enforce this practice with other crewmembers. You must let the Operations Supervisor know if you are running late to work.
• Attend Sugar Sands Painting Operation’s Meetings.
• Maintain dress code according to Sugar Sands Painting standards.
• Keep an accurate account of time/hours. Information is to be completed and returned to the Operations Supervisor or Office manager weekly.
• Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are to be present in your vehicle, along with fire extinguishers and first aid kits at every job.
• To see that vehicles on the job are maintained and cleaned regularly.
• Keep job site signs on all current jobs and return them to office after job completion.
• Order materials as needed for job only with office approval.
• Deal with customer’s questions and concerns on the jobsite daily. Report concerns and/or problems to Operations Supervisor immediately.
• Assist with other duties as directed.

Painter Job Description
We are searching for a deadline-driven painter with great attention to detail. The painter will be expected to, follow written and verbal instructions, and use a variety of tools to paint surfaces. Other responsibilities include completing minor repairs and selecting correct paints and primers.
To be successful as a painter, you should have great stamina, physical strength, and time management skills. The ideal candidate will be able to understand clients’ visions, follow directions, and complete projects on time and on budget.
Painter Responsibilities:
Selecting the correct tools and paints for projects.
Preparing walls and other surfaces before painting.
Mixing and applying paints, sealers, and solvents to exterior and interior building surfaces such as plaster, sheetrock, concrete, and wood.
Covering exposed objects and surfaces.
Performing building exterior and interior caulking, filling, finish repair, mud and tape, and texturing tasks.
Ensuring proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
Obeying workplace safety rules.
Using ladders and scaffolds safely.
Collaborating with other design and construction specialists.
Keeping the workspace and tools clean.
Practicing self-motivation and motivating others, as there may not always be a supervisor on hand to direct you.
Performing miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Painter Requirements:
Experience painting residential or commercial spaces.
Knowledge of all the applicable health and safety standards.

What are the daily duties of a Painter?
On a typical day, a Painter meets coworkers at the company shop/office to gather materials and load work vans. They review job assignments for the day and make sure they arrive on time to job sites. Before they start painting, they review the Job detail sheet to become familiar with what needs to be done for the job. hey cover furniture and flooring with tarps to minimize spills. They set up scaffolding and ladders in areas with high ceilings and pour paint into trays for easy application.
Once they fix surface imperfections, Painters use rollers and paint brushes to apply paint to walls and other surfaces. They keep their workspace clean and survey their work to make sure they didn’t miss anything.
What qualities make a good Painter?
A good Painter is someone who understands how to complete common maintenance tasks like sanding surfaces and filling in holes in drywall. Painters also need to have excellent verbal communication to speak effectively with clients and their coworkers. Further, a good Painter should value cleanliness. They demonstrate this quality by covering surfaces before they start painting and cleaning up their area after they finish their job. Who does a Painter report to?

This entry level job gives you the opportunity to learn a trade, even if you don’t have any experience.
As a painters apprentice, you will learn the painting trade with on-the-job and classroom style training.
Full time position assisting in painting and decorating with emphasis in residential repaint. You will perform entry level work in the painting, finishing, and maintaining of a wide variety of interior and exterior surfaces and structures. You may perform related work as required.
Customer satisfaction is key.
SCOPE
The painters apprentice assists in all areas of the painting trades, including: applies undercoats and finish coats using the full range of application methods and materials; mixes and matches paints and finishes; performs power washing, preparation, and paint application. Will be required to work both indoors and outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist journeyman level painters in the preparation of all surfaces interior and exterior, proper phases of preparation and material usage.
Assist journeyman level painters in the painting of all surfaces interior and exterior, correct coating methods and material use. Assist in brush and roller painting in water base and oil base materials.
Assist journeyman level painters with wood finishing and refinishing, wood species characteristics, preparation, application of coatings and proper material usage.
Operates, cleans and maintains all painting equipment, including brush, roll, sprayers , pumps, etc.
Safely stores and labels all materials.
Erects scaffolding, rigging and ladders as necessary in a manner consistent with safety codes.
Reads and understands work orders and safety instructions.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
ABILITY TO:
• Operate and use required tools and equipment skillfully and safely
• Perform heavy physical labor
• Climb ladders and scaffold (Must not be afraid of heights)
• Move and utilize up to a 28’ extension ladder (including all sizes of extension and step-type ladders less than 28’)
• Gain access to roofs when necessary
• Erect and work on rolling scaffold for entire work shift
• Carry full 5 gallon container of paint or equivalent weight on stairs
• Wear & Use respirators
• Bend and Reach while preparing and painting surfaces for entire work shift.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to safely use manual tools and power equipment common in the construction trades. Must be able to handle hazardous materials safely and tolerate exposure to electrical hazards. Must have reliable transportation (your own vehicle), valid drivers license.
